Tips and advice on buying Clear PVC protector for your table.

Clear PVC table protector is produced in various thicknesses, for simplicity we will refer to the types as ‘Standard’ and ‘Extra thick’ as this defines how the protector is used by the customer. Standard is used with an overhang, Extra Thick is cut to the size of the table top.

Standard (thin) PVC is measured in ‘mm’ or ‘microns’. 100 microns means 0.1mm thick. 200 microns means 0.2mm thick and 300 microns means 0.3mm thick. For home use, 0.2mm and 0.3mm is ideal, 0.1mm is very thin and not suitable in our opinion for home use.

The product is generally used with an overhang, as the PVC is a relatively thin layer, the pvc will drape over the table top edge without any problems. Standard Clear PVC Table Protector is cut from a roll and the maximum roll width is generally 140cm. Standard Clear PVC is a low cost product to purchase. We always recommend purchasing the optional tube despatch to ensure you receive the product crease free; folding Standard Clear PVC will cause memory lines which are difficult to remove.

Standard Clear PVC table protector (thin) is perfect for home use, very easy to wipe clean and can be cut easily with a sharp knife or scissors. There is minimal shrinkage with the product. The 0.3mm variant provides slightly better physical protection to the table top than the 0.2mm variant and like all vinyl PVC based table covers heat protection is limited to 90c.

So, 0.3mm Standard Clear PVC Table Protector with a Tube Despatch is a good long term investment, you can store the protector in the storage tube when not in use. 0.2mm Standard Clear PVC sent folded is a very cheap simple solution if you need to whip out something quickly if the grandchildren are coming in for dinner!
