Recycled Yarns

Helping the planet

Some of our textiles are made using recyled yarns. The yarn, used for weaving the base fabric, has been produced from re purposed polyester and cotton materials. Once the fabric has been woven into fabric this is called 'grey fabric' and has an off white appearance.

Grey fabric is then usually bleached, to turn the fabric white and remove colour impurities in the yarn. we do not bleach fabric made with recycled yarns, it would be wrong to do this this.

So, the Grey Fabric is printed on the surface with the finished design and then coated with an acrylic compound to give the table cover wipeclean clean properties.

So what does all this mean in simple terms ? It means that the production process is less damaging to our planet but there may be some minor impurities visible in the fabric, not many but there will be some. Designs with deeper darker printed surface will hide the impurities, lighter colour fabrics will have more visible impurities.
